Do you ever feel like it’s impossible to find down time as a family? Between work, school, practice, extra-curricular activities, errands, grocery shopping, etc. the calendar seems to always be filling up.
It’s so important to carve out family time, where at least one night a week everyone stops what they’re doing to spend time together. Having a family fun night doesn’t have to be complicated or a huge deal to plan and carry out.
All of these family fun night ideas are inexpensive, and will provide something exciting for the whole family to look forward to. We hope this list provides you with some new ideas and ways to create family memories together.
Bake some pizza, pop some popcorn, and snuggle up on the couch to enjoy a movie together.
Classic Board Game Night
Pull out some classic board games or puzzles, get out some yummy snacks, and enjoy a night of fun and laughter.
Backyard Camp Out
It’s up to you if you want to actually sleep in the tent or not, but even if you prefer the comfort of your own bed, you can still set up a tent, roast some hot dogs and marshmallows, and tell campfire stories.
Head out together to get something nice for dessert. Pie, fondue, frozen yogurt, ice cream, snow cones, or milk shakes, you really can’t go wrong with this one.
$5 Shopping Spree
Give everyone $5 and head to Walmart, Target, or the Dollar Store to see who can get the coolest trinket for $5. Make a mystery game by having everyone bring home their trinket without saying what they bought. Have each person take turns trying to guess who bought which item.
Put together a scavenger hunt of clues throughout the house or in the backyard. Work as a team to try and solve the clues. Celebrate completing the scavenger hunt with a trip to the park or with a scoop of ice cream.
Make a Funny Video or Watch Old Ones
Depending on the age of your kids, spend time watching old home movies, or make a new fun video to add to your family archives. It’s easier than ever to edit clips and make something your family will treasure.
Bring a picnic to a nearby lake or pond, and spend some time together in nature fishing and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors together.
