Free (Or Nearly Free!) Summer Activities for Kids

Summer break is made for creating memories, and there are plenty of fun ways to enjoy the summer with your kids without burning up your wallet!

This list of inexpensive and free summer activities for kids has something to offer everyone including indoor entertainment, woodworking, and outdoor adventures. We’re confident you’ll find something exciting to do no matter the day to keep your kiddos entertained.

Check out our list of the best free summer activities for kids below:

 

Bowling

Your child will receive 2 FREE games of bowling every day, all summer long at participating bowling alleys when you register them at kidsbowlfree.com (shoe rental is not included)

 

Roller Skating

Similar to the kidsbowlfree program mentioned above, all you need to do is register your child at kidsskatefree.com and they will receive free roller skating passes good at skate centers across the country.

 

National Parks Pass

4th graders all around the country can register at everykidoutdoors.gov for a free national park pass! Registered 10-year-olds and their families will have a full year of access to hundreds of parks absolutely free.

 

Free Slurpee Day

Head to 7-11 on July 11th for a free small Slurpee.

 

Wood Building

Home Depot hosts free in-store workshops for kids the first Saturday of every month. During the event children will build and design a simple wood craft. You can register and see the summer projects here.

 

Lowes also hosts kids building workshops on select Saturdays throughout the summer. You can register your child and see the fun summer projects here.

 

Get a Letter from a Disney Character

Did you know you can write a letter to Mickey Mouse at Disney World and your child will get a note back in the mail? It’s completely free (great for summer writing practice!) and what kid doesn’t love getting something in their mailbox?! All your child needs to do is write Mickey (or one of his pals) a note and mail it to:
