Looking for a perfect January project to do with your students? How about slowing down and making vision boards together.
Vision boards are a powerful tool that help students picture their goals, stay motivated, and reflect on what matters most to them. They are also a great way to support growth mindset thinking and build classroom community.
The supplies are simple and the activity itself will keep kids engaged for a long time. All you need are pieces of poster board, magazines (that can be cut up), printed images or student created drawings, glue, scissors and markers.
Start by showing students examples of what a vision board looks like (a simple search on Google will give you tons) talk about what they could/should include and get to work having fun and collaging their boards together.
It may be helpful to print the following headings that students can attach directly to the vision boards to help organize their ideas.
- What I want to be known for in 2026…
- A habit or fear I’d like to leave behind in 2026…
- Something new I want to learn this year is…
- My dream for 2026…
- My 2026 to-do list…
- My word of the year is…
- A big goal I want to achieve this year is…
